Mint Mobile Saves Benjamins

Personally, I thought about leaving Verizon Wireless for at least 5 years. Finally, I made the switch to Mint Mobile and there is no looking back. Hello “Fox” and later “Big Red”. My only regret is … I only wish I did it sooner. I could have saved so many Benjamins.

WTFox took me so long??? I was brain washed by Verizon and afraid to think; only they could provide me the coverage; reliability and the premium wireless experience I deserve. But I was wrong. They are not the only option. For me, Mint Mobile provides a similar premium wireless experience and, in some cases exceeds Verizon saving me @ $75/month.

With Verizon, I had a 4GB shared data plan for two lines (myself & parents) which cost @ $90/month including my 17% company discount. Recently, Verizon jacked up the prices first charging $3 extra for two lines and subsequently the next month increasing the cost another $12 raising my monthly Verizon bill to $105. Enough is enough “Big Red”. FoxU! Don’t get me wrong, your good but not that good. The final increases were enough for me to seriously explore my options.

Two months as a Mint Mobile customer and I have not noticed a negative difference in service and only noticed the below positives:

  • $75/month savings (that is a lot of do-re-mi per year, $900 to be precise...)
  • More signal bars at home
  • 8GB total data instead of 4GB (I have 4GB and my parents have 4GB)
  • Fastest 5G I ever experienced (400-500 Mbps)

So, is switching to Mint Mobile right for you?

Ask yourself the below questions:
  1. Do I want to cut reoccurring monthly expenses and save some Benjamins?
  2. Will Mint Mobile give me the coverage at Home or at the places I need?
  3. Is my current phone compatible? (If it isn’t Mint Mobile has phone deals too!)

  7. Making the switch tips:

    1. If you want to keep your phone number and port it to Mint Mobile make the switch to Mint first then cancel with your old wireless service provider
    2. Have your current wireless provider account number readily available from your most recent billing statement
    3. Unlock your current phone number with your carrier. This allows Mint Mobile to transfer your number. Verizon calls this "Number Lock". For an example, please see the picture below. To unlock, move the slider to the left for each number. Be sure to unlock your phone numbers prior to starting the transition to Mint Mobile.
